Halloween Scene

The feet arrived yesterday, so I was able to complete the apothecary. I found my tripod but I am still having trouble taking clear photos. I wanted to get this up in time for the contest and more importantly Halloween, but I intend on taking pics of the individual items.

Getting In The Halloween Mind Space

I have been working on this apothcary following an Alpha Stamps and Laura Carson's tutorial.
The tutorial called for four boxes for sale at the store but I thoought it would be good practice for me to use foam board. I have been a little hesitant to begin the red project, as it will be the first major foam board project created completely from beginnning to end. Anyways it was good practice and I know where I need to make an adjustments to side walls (accounting for the thickness of the back and front walls), so has been a good learning experience.

I am waiting for an order from Allpha Stamps that has the Tim Holtz feet for the cabinet. I am looking forward to seeing the completed project. In the meantime I have been making the bits and bobs for the for the spooky apothocary. Bottles and containers of all-sorts along with real and faux books. I intend to enter the contest at Alpha Stamps that closes Oct 30th and the draw on 31st.....check the link for more detail.
I really need to locate my tripod. I seem to be shakier every time I try and take photos.
I plan on setting it up the apothocary in this bay window in our living room. From the outside it is right there beside the front door. I have spooky spider web and moss, candles, rats and a ravin named Venom to add to the scence. Should be quite something. I hope! I am looking forward to it and hoping for more kids than last year.

Prayer Flags

This morning, I stayed up until hubby woke to help me put up the new prayer flags. There were only two auspicious days in May to do this, and today being one of them. The old flags were all but gone and all that remains are string and a few threads. I had been longing to see the brilliant green, blue, yellow white and red once more, and happy to think of the good wishes they would spread. I was just sitting here watching them and the following words arrived:

Prayer Flags Dancing in the Wind
What Joy they Bring
Colors Filled with the  Best Intentions
Traveling the Expanse of Emptiness

Journaling Phrases

Primarily created by me with exception of the Live You Passion graphic and the Life is Good which are both CU PRODUCTS Beth Rimmer via Feel free to use this if you would like to.

These days I have been spending some time trying to organize the multitude of images in Bridge. This is a major undertaking which I am certain is going to take years as I am self-described image junkie from way back. Any how, I am currently working on my personal collection of flower images and making some headway. I thought I would have a little fun this evening and played with a couple in photoshop. I have so much to learn, but I am happy with tonights efforts and thought I would share.

Bedazzled Lola

Latest prompt via the Gothic Arch Challange

Used foam board like in the Alise Arch, but this time I did not cover the foam board.
I wanted to see how it would take paint, magical micas and mettalic leaf.
I thought the results were good. Also I tried embossing the foam did condence it some.

Alise Arch

I was window shopping online when I saw a Wendy Vecchi design. I am learning to make shrines and use foam board in the process. It lead me to thinking I could make something similar using the foam board. I thought that the thin foam board should not be a problem to cut in the Vagabond. I used the mini cabinet die and it cut a perfect cut. I made the base pieces thhen I covered them in napkin and modge podge. I glued the pieces together with Scotch Quick Dry Adhesive. I added a  little netting, bits of paper, paper flowers, a home crafted art tile with crackle accents, and finally a German scrap bird and there you have it.

"Bedecked and Beribboned" Gothic Arch

This is what I came up with for the Biweekly Challange at Gothic Arches. The prompt this time was bedecked and beribboned. I was not sure what this meant, but thanks to some guidance here we are. I hope it meets the criteria.

In Memory Of Grampa, Shrine- 4

Spent the weekend creating this shrine which holds many mementos that are dear to my heart, or they were recreated to respresent something about my Grampa. I am so glad he was a part of my life, and I was very lucky to get to know him.  I was the oldest and nearest grandchild, so I spent quite a bit of time at Grama and Grampa's house. I added a little pocket on the back to hold extra pictures that are particulary special to me

Revamped Crochet Hat

Saw a video where oneCraftycookie spruced up a little hat and it inspired me to do likewise.
I used Tibetan Poppy Teal , my favorite Lindy's color,  Kaiser craft trim, and various little flowers. Terrie said she wanted to see what I came up with so I thought to kist post it here.

Butterfly Shrine Slight ReVamp

It is becoming more and more that what I put out to the universe seems to happen. For instance, with the Butterfly Shrine, I felt I was still missing a needed butterfly. I have a number off metal ones, but I wanted something that felt light. I stopped at my favorite thrift store the other day and there she was, a butterfly pin. She was see through in a kind of light champange color. At first I thought I would leave the color as but in the end I felt adding color was the way to go, so I use alchohol inks and then some Lindy's Magcial Micas. I think she turned out lovely. I changed the orientation of one other butterfly because the placement of the big one made it look odd.

True Blue Love Hanging Ornament

Lids from larde and medium cans (use can opener that does not leave sharp edges
1 sheet of cardstock sprayed with Lindy's Starburst Stain In Delphinum Turquoise
Vic Images
handcrafted polymer heart charms
Heart bling
ribbon flowers
Black Seam Binding
Distress Ink in Vintage Photo and Broken China
Glossy Accents
Mod Podge
Pop dots
tacky glue.

Cut circles out for each side of the two cans. Distress the edges and use Broken China Distres Ink and the edges.
Use Mod Podge to adher the circle to the sides of the lids. Attach trim with glossy accents. Fussy cut the VIC images.
In this case, I placed the Cherubs from one image and attached them to the medium circle, and the lady to the the larger
circle using pop dots for dimension. I added the sentiment onto her dress skirt. Holes were punched at the top
and bottom of the lid and attached using the seam binding. Decorated with heart bling and polymer charms and flowers.
On the second side I included a
rub on sentiment on the med lid and heart bling. On the larger lid I cut the heart part of a VIC image and attached to the
circle. I also fussy cut and 2nd copy of the flower, dress and hat and added using pop dots.

Gothic Arch Challenge - New Beginings

This is my first entry at the Gothic Arch Challenge

The Butterfly Shrine -Shrine Three

I used some of all the butterfly goodies and paper to create this shrine. I will take a couple inside shots tomorrow. I did not even think of it. I really enjoyed this one but need to work out a better method for sizing the drawers. The instructions just said slightly smaller measurements then the base. The frist drawer ended up too big and this one is actually a little too small. I will correct this by adding a piece to the back of the drawer. I played with buttons and came up with an interesting closer that should stannd up to opening and closing.
